Meet the Instructors

Robert Grant
Born in South Africa, Robert started his aviation journey as ground crew on transport aircraft for the South African Defense Force. He began flying in South Africa before moving to Warrensburg, Missouri, where he earned his U.S. Commercial and Instrument Certificates and completed his A&P at the university in Warrensburg.
Robert became a Certified Flight Instructor in 1994 and has maintained his CFI certificate ever since, actively instructing in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. His career has been varied, including flight instructing, bush flying in Alaska, corporate jet flying in Las Vegas, and flying helicopters to the Grand Canyon and around Hawaii.
With over 10,000 hours of flight experience, Robert enjoys sharing what he has learned with others. He finds it incredibly rewarding to see students achieve breakthroughs and accomplishments as they learn to fly.

Sean Gunther
Sean is a graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering and a commercial pilot certificate. He was an active member of the flight team, receiving multiple awards for his aviation knowledge and skills. He also received a graduate degree in flight testing engineering, during which he flew flight test campaigns for the program.
In 2022, Sean moved to Kansas to work as a certification systems engineer for Garmin on avionics. In his free time, he earned his flight instructor, instrument instructor, and ground instructor certificates. He discovered a passion for instructing, and in 2025, decided to become a full-time instructor.
He most enjoys seeing students hit the major milestones of soloing and the joy and newfound privileges they have upon completing a certificate, and welcomes students of all ages and backgrounds to go fly.
